DECEMBER
2007/12/26 - THE DEATH OF JOE DOLAN
. Joe Dolan the showband legend who died on St
Stephen's Day. Was buried today Saturday, 29th December, 2007 after Requiem
Mass in the Cathedral of Christ the King in
Mullingar, Co Westmeath. Joe Dolan and his band The Drifters, played all over Europe in the
showband era of the 1960s and 1970s, Argentina and Brazil. He was
the first western singer to play in Moscow during the Cold War in
1978.
"Make Me An Island" reached number one in 14 other countries.
"Such A Good Looking Woman" is still played on Irish radio as
Joe Dolan,s top song. Joe Dolan and his band played the Festa in
Letterkenny and all over Donegal which may have included the Creeslough Hall.

2007/11/10 - SEAMUS THE BULLY
Seamus The Bully (Sweeney) Kildarragh, Creeslough is back
again after he Managed the "Donegal Philadelphia" Team to winners of the
New York Cup. The USA. GAA. Senior Football
Championship. (St.Micheal's Colm McFadden was coach.)

OCTOBER
2007/10/21- Boxing All Ireland
Cristy Boyle from Castle Doe, Creeslough won the All
Ireland U-21 Championship at the National Stadium in Dublin. Cristy
is from the Dunfannaghy Boxing Club trained by Eddie Harkin, Patrick
Durning and Joe Harkin.

2007. Nurse Connolly
Nurse Terry Connoly from Ards Creeslough retried as
District Nurse after almost fourty two years service. Terry a Co.
Clare woman came to Creeslough in 1966 after training in the Rutunda
Hospital in Dublin. Terry Married Danny Connolly (a Foresty Man) and they
had four children CLodagh, Declan, Aidan and Donal.

Mary Barney's
Grandson, Fr. Francis Ferry celebrated mass in St. Micheals Church
Creeslough (His first Mass was in Ards Friary the day before). Fr.
Frances Ferry is the son of Maureen Ferry ( Mc
Ginley Creeslough) and Hughie Ferry Rosine who have lived in Dublin for
over twenty years.

Ferry, Fr. Philip Kenny and Deacon Shane Gallagher were ordained by His
Lordship Bisop Philip Boyce in St. Eunan's Catherdral Letterkenny last
Sunday

2007/5/24 - General Election
A General Election
for the 30th Dail was held on a thursday this time
around with 165 of the 166 seats in 43 constituency's up for selection the
Ceann Comhairle being
returned automaticly. (Dublin having a total of 48 seats)
Donegal North East (3). Fine Gael Senator Joe McHugh was
elected TD. fot the first time topping the pole . Fianna Fail Dr.
James McDaid and Nial Blaney holding their seats with Cecilia Keavney
losing her seat .
Donegal South West (3). Fianna Fail Mary Coughlin and
Pat (The Coop) Gallagher holding their seats. Fine Gael Dinnie McGlinley
holding his seat.
Final Result :
FF-78, FG-51, LAB-20, GP-6, SF-4, OTH-5, PD-2.

APRIL
2007/4/10
- Fr. GALLAGHER MEVAGH. Was buiried after Requiem Mass in St. John
the Baptist Church Carrigart. Mass was concelebrated by Bishops Philip
Boyce and Seamus Hegarty how were joined by Fr. Charley Byrne Curate and
thirty other priests from the Diocese. Fr. Patrick Gallagher was born in
Donegal Town was educated at Aodh Rua National School St. Eunan's College
Letterkenny, St. Patrick's College Maynooth where he was ordaind in 1950.
Fr.Paddy spent a year in the Irish College in Rome before his appointnent
to Southwark
Archdiocese in England. Fr.Paddy spent ten years on the staff of St.
Eunan's College then to Ballyshannon before comming to Carrigart as Parish
Priest in 1979 where he was to spend the next twenty one years.

- 50th Anniversary of the European Union.
The
European Union (European Economic Community. EEC. or Common Market) was
created by the Treaty of Rome on the 25/3/1957. The 6. founding members
were Belgum, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands.
Membership reached 27. last month when Bulgaria and Romania joined.

of Harcourt Developments. Owner's of property in Europe, America The
Bahamas and the Caribbean, a Cable Company, Hotels, Shopping Centres
including Letterkenny. And best of all the Head Quarters of the Tory Party
in London.

2007/1/1. DOE AMATEUR SWIMMING CLUB
Willie Sheridan and Noel Brennan completed a record of
30 years unbroken in the new year swim at Marblehill on monday 1/1/2007. This year
in Aid of the Alzheimers Society in Donegal and Woodville Ward St.
Joseph's Hospital Stranorlar.
