DECEMBER

2008/12/6 - It Took a Lifetime by Seamus Harkin. A new book launched in the Corncutters Rest Creeslough. This is Seamus Harkin lates book stories about his life mostly lived around Derryart, Creeslough, Co. Donegal.

NOVEMBER 

2008/11/28 - The Wish Key by Marie O'Reilly.
Marie O'Reilly a pupil at Scoil Mhuire, Creeslough. Published her first Book "The Wish Key". Marie who is 11 years of age has many hobbies: Writing, Singing, The Violin. The Tin Whistle, Irish Dancing, Athletics, Football and Swimming. 

OCTOBER

2008/10/19 - Sgt. Major Brennan.

Sgt. Major Brennan John. Massinass, Creeslough retired from the Reserve Defence Forces  (formerly known as the FCA.) after 45 years. John came up through the ranks Private, Corporal, Sergeant, Company Sergeant  with D Coy. (Milford) and Sergeant Major of the 24th Inf. Battalion FCA. With the re-organisation he became Sgt. Major of 58th Inf. Bat. RDF.

2008/10/10 - Hughie McGinley

Hughie McGinley The Hault Termon donated three First World War medals and letters to the Donegal County Muesum, Letterkenny.
The medals were awarded to three brothers Michael, (Connaught Rangers) John (Royal Enniskillen Fusilliers) and James O'Donnell (Kings Own Scottish Borders) who were cousins of Hughie's mother Mary O'Donnell who came from Druimnacarrie, Creeslough. The three brothers survived with no series injuries despite four years in the trenches of Gallopoli, Russian border and Flanders.

SEPTEMBER 

2008/09/15 -  Patricia McCarry

Patricia McCarry Cashelmore, Creeslough who is secretary to FG Deputy Joe McHugh in Letterkenny was awarded a "Certificate of Merit" for her work. Patricia also traveled to London where she was presented with "Executary Certificate" after a champagne reception. Patricia has being reporting in the Creeslough Notes for the local Donegal Paper,s for over 25 years.

2008/09/05 -  Sheridan / Harkin

The Wedding of Anne Marie Sheridan and Joseph Harkin was celebrated in Ards Friary, Creeslough on Friday 5th September,2008. Chief Bridesmaid: Eileen Sheridan. Bridesmaids: Donna Quigley and Eileen Bohan. Bestman: Eamon Harkin. Groomsmen: Denis Sheridan and John Harkin. Flower Girls: Niamh Harkin and Tara Brennan. Page Boys: Odhran McGinley and Luke Kelly.
The Wedding Reception was held in Ostan Loch Alton, Gortahork.

Anne Marie is the daughter of the Late Denis Sheridan and the Late Saddie (Doherty) Sheridan. Joseph is the son of Eddie Harkin and the Late Margaret (McCready) Harkin.

AUGUST   (Lunasa)

2008/08/08 -  Bejing Olympics
  1. At 8 minutes & 8 seconds past 8 o'clock on the 8 th day of the 8 th month of the 8 th year (2008) The 29 th Olympics opened in Beijing, China  with 90,000 people in the new Olympic Stadiam called the Birds Nest.
  2. Russia goes to war in South Asetia, Georgia.
  3. The 7th Creeslough Festival opened with the Creeslough School Reunion.

JULY  (Luil)

2008/07/20 -  Solitaire in Donegal.

The pipe laying ship "The Solitaire" is being serviced of Killybegs on it way to the controversial pipeline to the Corrib gas field in Co. Mayo. The ship is  96,000 tons laiden, 400 Meters long and Generates 50,000 Mega Wats electricity.

JUNE

2008/06/13 - Book Launch

  Martin (Jim) McFadden Kill Carrigart launched his new book " Sober, I am not afraid" in the Ramada Hotel in Letterkenny on friday 13th feast of St. Anthony. Guest speaker was Colm Anthony McFadden.

2008/06/06 - Boxing

  This weekend Cristy Boyle heads to The National Stadiumin Dublin to defend his U21 All Ireland Boxing Title. To date Cristy has won 5 All Ireland Boxing Titles.

2008/06/01 - Cashel Creeslough.

Dona McFadden from Cashel, Creeslough, daughter of Billy and Patsy McFadden (Mary Hanna's Pub). Has being appointed Design Programme Manager with Donegal Enterprise Board in Letterkenny.

  Colleen McDevitt, USA. her twin brother Joe, Father Jimmy, Mother Karen, and her aunt Laura were visiting Creeslough where her Greatgrand Mother Mary McFadden came from. And her Greatgrand Father was Denis Coll from Carrigart.

 

2008/05/07- Mary Coughlan T.D.

May Day for Mary Coughlan TD. when she became Tanaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment. Appointed by the new Taoiseach Brian Cowen in a cabnet resuffle. Creeslough is part of Donegal South West Mary Coughlan Constituency.

APRIL

2008/04/30- Bertie in Washington

Today Bertie Ahern  became the first Fianna Fail Taoiseach to addressed the joint houses of Congress in Washington USA.  having  being invited by the speaker of the house Nancy Pelosi in his speach he said "Ireland is at Peace". Bertie Ahern has also addressed the joint houses of the British Parliament at Westminster England in 2007,  President of the Europe Union for six month in 2004 whean the number of country's went from 15 to 27, Over seen Ireland Celtic Tiger 2002/2008, Negotated  with Tony Blair the Good Friday agreement for Nothern Ireland in 1998., Elected as Taoiaeach 1997 and TD. ("Teachta Dala") in 1977.

 After eleven years a Taoiseach and leader of Fianna Fail Bertie Ahern the eleventh Taoiseach is due to step down on the 6th. May  2008 in favour of Brian Cowen "a new beginning".

MARCH

2008/3/24- ST. MICHAEL'S  GAA. LADIES WON  JUNOR GAELTACHT CHAMPIONSHIP.

On Easter Monday in Magheragallon this ladies team won the Junior Gaeltacht Championship when they defeated Kilcar the previous years champions in the final after extra time they scored 4 - 5.  (Report by Paddy Coll.)

2008/03/10- Miss Cassidy Dressmaker

Miss Cassidy would turn in her grave. It not possible to buy a sewing neddle in Creeslough. But wait for it: The only shop in Letterkenny Shopping Centre where it is possible to bye a sewing neddle is Hanna McFadden's Chemist. (The price of sewing kit was €2.99).

FEBRUARY 

2007/02/29 A Muckish Report

 Muckish and all around the area of Creeslough was covered with a white blanket of snow. The first real snow on this year which lasted for a day.

JANUARY 

2008/1/12- ST. MICHAEL'S  GAA. WON  1B RESERVE TITLE.

St. Michael's won the 1B Title in Buncranna on saturday.
