DECEMBER (Mi Na Nollag)

2009/12/109- Creeslough Horses

Sean Brennan Umerafad, Creeslough and the Donegal Harriers had a big day out with 51 Horses on the trail.  Starting in Creeslough through Duntally Wood ( using the old Doe Castle road) down to Doe Point across  the strand to Ards and back through Magheroarty to The Corn Cutters Rest.

NOVEMBER (Samhain) 

2009/11/09 - Berlin Wall

Today 2009/11/09 marks 20 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall. The wall was built in 1961, the were 5000 escape attempts ending in the death of 239 people. On 3rd of October 1990 reunification of East and West Germany took place.

2009/10/10 - Margaret Sweeney

Margaret (Toye) Sweeney from Grogagh, Creeslough, is back from Philidelpha USA on her second visit this year. She came back to see her new granddaughter Una Catherine Sweeney born to her son Liam Sweeney wife  Naomh and their son Oisin from Clagan, Carrigart.

SEPTEMBER (Mean Fomhair) 

2009/09/10 - A Thousand Things

In the Corn Cutters Creeslough Margaret Carey launched her book " A Thousand Things " about the death of her son Gary who drowned while working in Holand. Margaret who has being a teacher for forty years, is married to Jim and they have two other children daughter Sonya and son Bobby.

AUGUST   (Lunasa)

2009/08/10 - Hughie McFadden II.

   Hughie (Tagie) McFadden back for a visit to the homestade in Killoughcarron, Creeslough.  Hughie worked driving a sand lorry from Muckish in 1952 before imagrating to Ayr in Scotland where he married and raised his family, living there for 47 years.

JULY  (Luil)

2009/07/30 -  The Creeslough Five on route to England 1952.

Mary Treasa ((Jim Pat) McFadden) Rooney died leaving only one of the five Mary (Den) Lynch who still lives in Londan, England.

European Election North West:  Donegal, Cavan, Monaghan, Sligo, Letrim, Mayo, Galway, Roscommon, Clare, Longford & Westmeath. 

Seats: 3, Candidates: 13. Quota: 123,815.

Elected: Harkin Marian (NP), Gallagher Pat (cope) (FF), Higgins Jim (FG). 

Glenties Electoral Area: (including Creeslough).                   

Seats: 5, Candidates: 13. Quota: 2,484. 

Elected: O'Domhnaill Seamus (NP), Alcorn David (FF), Doherty Padraig (NP), Gallagher Marie Therese (SF), Slowey Terence (FG).

MAY (An Bhealtaine)

2009/05/15 - The Harry Blaney Bridge.

The Harry Blaney Bridge spaning the Mulroy Bay between the Rosguill peninsula (near Carrigart) and the Fanad peninsula.  Was opened by AnTaoiseach Brian Cowan at cost of €20 Million. There was a large crowed in attendance and a reception was held in the Community Cente Tri loc Fanad.

2009/04/26- The Capuchin Franciscan Friars Ards.

"A Cead Mile Failte" Welcome Home goes to Fr, Mark Coyle after his long recuperating in Dublin and Letterkenny Hostipal's following his near fatal motor accident on the N56 not far from the site of the old factory Derryart, Creeslough.

2009/03/10- The Singing Trail

Margaret Rose McFadden Killoughcarron, Creeslough, has joined up with Brian McLaughlin Gortnalake, Creeslough, To form a new Band which will tour all over The Singing Trail in Donegal.

FEBRUARY (Feabhra) 

2009/02/04 - Michael McGee

Michael McGee from Dowings presented is last Gaa. show on Highland Radio after 18 years. Michael McGee played for St Michael's Gaa. Team who went down to Pettigo by 13 pts to 12 pts in the Donegal County Junior League Final - 1953

JANUARY (Fanair)

2009/1/20- Barack Hussein Obama
  Barack Hussein Obama was Inaugurated as the 44th President of the United States of America. He is the first black man  (African-American) to hold that office. The Irish Connection. In 1849 Joseph Kearney Obama's Great,Great,Great,Great, Grandfather from Offaly (then Kings County) went America.
